What's the difference between CLEAR and TSA PreCheck?
PreCheck lets you keep your shoes/belt/laptop on through security screening. CLEAR lets you skip the ID check entirely (using face or fingerprints instead). Many travelers use both: CLEAR gets you to the front of the line, PreCheck gets you through screening faster. They work together at airports that have both.
Why are there so many consent checkboxes?
CLEAR is a private company collecting biometric data (fingerprints, face, optionally iris). U.S. and state laws (especially in Illinois, Texas, Washington, and California) require explicit consent for each type of biometric and each data-sharing arrangement. We separate them so you can opt out of optional ones (like iris scan) while still enrolling.
How does the family plan work?
Once you're a CLEAR Plus member, you can add up to 3 family members at $70/year each (vs. $189 for a separate membership). Each family member needs to be 18+ and complete their own pod enrollment, but they share your subscription. Children under 18 can use CLEAR with you for free.
Which airports have CLEAR?
50+ U.S. airports including all major hubs (LAX, JFK, ATL, ORD, DFW, etc.). We list all current CLEAR airports during enrollment and let you pick your home airport. CLEAR is also at some sports stadiums and event venues — your membership works at all of them.
Can I get CLEAR without PreCheck?
Yes — they're independent services. But we usually recommend getting both, since they solve different parts of the airport security experience. Bundle pricing isn't currently available, but we can run both applications in parallel.
How long does enrollment take?
Form: 10 minutes. Pod appointment: 5 minutes once you're there. Once enrolled, your CLEAR membership is active immediately — you can use it for your next flight.
