From the Great Wall to the neon skyline of Shanghai, China offers one of the world's most rewarding travel experiences. As a U.S. citizen you qualify for the 10-year multiple-entry tourist visa — meaning one approval can cover a decade of return visits. eGovRush takes care of every document, every consulate run, and every photo spec so you can focus on planning your itinerary.

How it works

  1. 1
Complete our short online form (10 minutes) and upload your documents — passport scan, China-spec 33×48 mm photo, flight itinerary, and hotel booking.
  2. 2
Our team reviews every document with AI-assisted checks and manual quality control, then fills out the official DS-160-equivalent Chinese Visa Application Form (Form V.2013A).
  3. 3
A dedicated eGovRush courier (or FedEx for Smart/Fast tiers) delivers your complete package to the nearest consulate in your jurisdiction. We track every step.
  4. 4
The consulate processes your application (typically 4–7 business days). We pick up your passport with the visa sticker and ship it back to you by FedEx overnight.

FAQs

Do I need a 10-year multi-entry visa, or is a single-entry cheaper?

For U.S. passport holders, the Chinese consulate typically issues the 10-year multiple-entry L visa by default at the same $140 government fee — there is usually no cheaper single-entry option at a lower gov fee. We recommend the 10-year multi-entry since it covers all future trips to China without re-applying.

Can I apply for a China visa by mail, or do I have to go in person?

Yes — since the China Visa Application Service Centers (CVASC) began operating in the U.S., mail-in and courier submissions are fully accepted. You never need to appear in person. That is exactly what eGovRush does: we courier your complete package (passport + application + photos + support docs) to the consulate serving your state and return it to you once the sticker is affixed.

How does the eGovRush hand-courier service work?

Once your documents pass our quality check, we print the completed application form, assemble your full package, and send it to the consulate — via FedEx for Smart and Fast tiers, or via a dedicated in-person courier for Premier and Emergency tiers. We track every handoff in real time and notify you by email at each stage. When your visa is ready, we ship your passport back via FedEx Priority Overnight.

What happens if the consulate denies my application? Do I get a refund?

In the rare event of a denial, eGovRush refunds our service fee in full. However, the $140 government visa fee paid to the Chinese consulate is non-refundable — this is the consulate's policy and outside our control. We will provide you with a detailed denial notice and guidance on how to reapply or appeal if applicable.

Does the photo really need to be 33×48 mm? Can I use a standard US passport photo?

Yes — China's requirement is strictly 33×48 mm (approximately 1.3×1.9 inches), which is different from the standard US 2×2 inch (51×51 mm) passport photo. Submitting a US-size photo is one of the most common reasons for rejection. China also prohibits glasses of any kind and requires a neutral (no smile) expression with both ears visible. eGovRush's AI photo validator checks your image against China's exact spec before we submit anything.

Can I use a U.S. passport card instead of a passport book for a China visa?

No. A U.S. passport card is not accepted for international travel by air and is not accepted by the Chinese consulate for visa applications. You must use a valid U.S. passport book with at least 6 months of remaining validity and at least 2 blank visa pages.
