FAQs
Do U.S. citizens need a visa to visit the UAE?
No. U.S. passport holders are visa-exempt for the UAE and receive a free 30-day entry stamp on arrival at any official port of entry — no advance application required. The stamp can be extended once for an additional 30 days inside the country.
What does eGovRush do if no visa is required?
Even though no visa is required, many travelers benefit from a document compliance review before departure. We check your passport validity, blank page count, and travel dates to flag any issues that could cause delays at UAE immigration. We also provide an up-to-date arrival guide covering customs rules, currency, and what to expect at the border.
Can I extend my stay beyond 30 days in the UAE?
Yes. The free on-arrival stamp can be extended once for an additional 30 days (60 days total) by paying approximately AED 250 (~$68 USD) at an ICA (Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security) service center within the UAE. Extensions must be requested before the original stamp expires.
Are there any items I cannot bring into the UAE?
Yes — the UAE has strict customs rules. Prohibited items include narcotics, certain medications (check the UAE MOHAP approved list), pork products in large quantities, material deemed offensive under Islamic values, and certain firearms/weapons. Prescription medications should be accompanied by a doctor's letter. Alcohol is legal in Dubai and Abu Dhabi but is purchased from licensed establishments only.
